Import certificate request response

Once you have received the final certificate for your certificate request from your certification authority, you can import this certificate into !MC5. To do this, follow the steps in these instructions.

In order for !MC5 to automatically replace all references to the certificate request with the associated certificate, these references must all have been set up beforehand. If you are unsure, read the chapter Set up certificate request for other Modules or Add-Ons again.

1 Start the import via the menu Tools/Import certificate request answer.

3 Now !MC5 imports the response certificate and replaces all references with the final certificate. For each found reference to the certificate request you can select from when the certificate should be used at the corresponding position. You can use the certificate from now by  selecting theUse certificate from now. It will then proceed directly to the next but one step or the time of use of the next reference.

4 If the certificate  is to be used only from a later point in time, then click Use certificate later. In a further dialog you can adjust the time of use.

5 Once all the references found have been replaced and the usage times have been set, a window confirms the successful import of the certificate and the number of references replaced.

6 Saving a backup copy brings you to the last and very important step in importing this certificate. First you need to set a password for your certificate. Choose a password that cannot be easily guessed. You can use letters, numbers and special characters. The password should not be too short under any circumstances.

7 Now choose a location and specify a file name. Thefile extension should always  be pfx. Copy the backup to a secure location, such as a backup server or even a USB stick that you keep safe. It is best to discuss this with your IT department or your management.

You are now finished importing the certificate and can continue working with !MC5 as usual.

Why create a backup copy of the certificate?

Note that the certificate you received from your certification authority does not contain your private key. So it is not complete and cannot be used as a backup copy. !MC5 has added the private key when importing the certificate you got from your certification authority, so you can now backup a complete copy.
