Setup

To set up AS2, proceed as follows:

1 Open the AS2 settings in the tree view via Settings / AS2.

2 Enter your own AS2 identifier  in the Own AS2 identifier field. The AS2 identifier can be freely chosen, but should be as unique as possible. For example, you can use your DUNS number, your Odette identifier or an e-mail address here.

3 Now select the format for the IDs of outgoing messages. For the left part of the ID, currently only the Timestamp option can be selected. The right part of the ID is freely selectable. Usually the host name under which your AS2 installation is reachable is used here, for example edi.bartschsoft.de.

4 If confirmations for sent messages (MDNs) are to be received asynchronously, then enter the complete URL to which they are to be sent in the Asynchronous MDN URL field. If MDNs are only received synchronously, you can leave this field empty.

5 To be able to receive AS2 messages or asynchronous acknowledgements, the internal AS2 server of !MC5 must be activated. To do this, activate the Enable AS2 server option.  In the Port field you can set on which port the AS2 server should run. In addition, you can set which TLS versions the server should use and whether the other side must also identify itself using a certificate (require certificate from clients). In this case the certificate of the respective partner must be known in !MC5 to allow the connection. !MC5 only allows encrypted connections. Unencrypted HTTP connections are not allowed inbound.

6 For the AS2 server and various AS2 functions such as receiving encrypted messages or sending signed messages, a separate certificate with a private key is required. Any valid certificate can be used for this purpose. If there are special requirements depends on the partners with whom you exchange data via AS2. To import one or more of your own certificates, first click on the Add Certificate button .

7 You now have the choice between different methods to select or create a certificate. Which you have to choose depends on whether you already have a suitable certificate or have to create one first. If you already have a certificate, you can import it from a file or select it from the Windows Certificate Store. For the latter, the certificate must be stored in your personal Windows Certificate Store! If you do not have a certificate yet, then you can create a self-signed certificate. Select the appropriate import method and follow the instructions of the certificate wizard.

Certificate must include private key

Own certificates must always be imported with private key. If it is imported from a file, then it must be a file with the extension .pfx and during import you will be asked for the password for the file.

8 Once you have successfully selected a certificate, select the intended uses for the certificate. Various AS2 functions can only be used if a certificate is specified for the respective purpose. Generally, only one certificate is used for all purposes. In this case, all options must be activated. After selecting the purposes, finish the wizard by clicking Finish.

9 Apply the changed settings by  clicking Save changes. The AS2 setup is now complete. If you have activated the option Enable AS2 server and set up a certificate for the purpose TLS connection !MC5 is now ready to receive incoming AS2 connections.
