Data transfer

A partner account must always be created for sending or receiving data. Such a partner account contains all information required for the respective connection and can be created and edited via the partner management. Almost all other processes and functions in !MC5 work with the previously created partner accounts:

If you want to send files, select the appropriate partner account for the partner to which the data is to be sent.

When creating automatic rules, the partner account to which data is to be sent or which was used to receive data is selected for further processing.

Partner account settings control which files a user logged on via the HTTP Client can see.

Partner accounts control where data received from and/or to be sent to the partner is stored locally.

Partner and Partner Account

"Partner" in this manual generally refers to a specific partner account for connecting to a "real partner" (for example, when "creating an OFTP2 partner"). Sometimes, however, it can also mean the "real" partner (you send your own OFTP2 parameters to the "real" partner, of course, and not to the partner account). It should always be clear from the context which of the two is meant, and in places where this could be misleading, an explicit distinction is made between (real) partner and partner account.

For some transfer types, no further configuration is necessary in addition to the partner account, for example for SFTP client connections; others may require additional settings, for example for OFTP2 connections. This depends, among other things, on whether your partner actively connects to you or whether the connection is only established from your side. In some cases, it may even be necessary or advantageous to create multiple partner accounts for connections to one "real" partner.
